Cybertruck in Europe 2026: Will Tesla Launch It Officially?

Stříbrná Tesla Cybertruck na autosalonu v Evropě

In brief: As of the publication date, Tesla does not sell the Cybertruck in Europe and has not announced a European launch date. The vehicle lacks European type approval, and Tesla has repeatedly indicated that a European version would require design changes. The only way to legally have a Cybertruck in Europe is through import from the USA and individual approval – this is how all units you see on European roads, including ours, are operating. Below: what is known, what is unknown, and how to make a decision.

Why is the Cybertruck not in Tesla's European showroom?

Every car officially sold in the EU needs European type approval, and Tesla issues a certificate of conformity (CoC) for it. The Cybertruck was designed according to American regulations and in its current form does not meet several European requirements – issues include a weight over 3.5 tons, pedestrian protection requirements, and lighting. Tesla has showcased the Cybertruck in European showrooms during touring exhibitions and is gauging interest, but it has not obtained or announced approval.

What would need to happen? Either Tesla would redesign the vehicle to meet European standards (company representatives have mentioned this possibility without timelines), or the regulations would change. Neither event has a date today.

How are Cybertrucks driving in Europe today?

EU Regulation 2018/858 provides for national individual approval: a specific unit can be approved for road use in a member state after meeting alternative requirements. In Poland, this procedure works, and we carry it out for every Cybertruck: import, technical preparation, inspection, documentation, registration with a GVW of 4,250 kg, Polish plates. For clients outside Poland, the vehicle is registered to their Polish company and used in the EU as a company car – with all the caveats we describe in the article Is the Tesla Cybertruck Legal in Poland?

The first Cybertruck was registered in Poland in 2024; since then, the number of such vehicles has been increasing. There is no official statistic – each unit is a separate procedure.

Wait for the official launch or buy now?

  • For waiting: If Tesla ever introduces the Cybertruck to Europe, you would get a European warranty, Tesla service, and charging without adapters. Problem: it's unknown if and when.
  • For buying now: The vehicle is available immediately, registered, and legal; the price of a used AWD (€118,000) is lower than what an officially homologated European Cybertruck would likely cost; and for several years, you drive a car that no one else in the area has.
  • Risks we openly discuss: Service requires organization (we describe this in the text Cybertruck Service in Europe), charging requires an adapter, and resale value in Europe has no history yet.

What if Tesla does introduce the Cybertruck to Europe?

Your vehicle will still be legally registered – individual approval does not expire due to the appearance of a homologated version. Availability of parts and service would likely improve, benefiting current owners. The European version would probably have a different specification (weight, lighting), so American units would remain a separate, rare group.

We update this page

When reliable information about European Cybertruck approval emerges, we will describe it here – with date and source, without speculation. Until then, the most reliable information is what stands in our showroom.
