Cybertruck in Spain — why local homologation is so expensive

The Tesla Cybertruck in factory, American specifications does not have EU type homologation — this applies to Spain just like the rest of the EU. Individual homologation directly in Spain is technically possible but practically very costly: companies offering a full process of local homologation quote as much as several hundred thousand euros, which makes this route unfeasible for many customers.

However, there is a much cheaper, fully legal alternative — homologation and registration in Poland.

How it works: the Cybertruck Europe process

We adapt the Tesla Cybertruck so that it can obtain full homologation in Poland, receive a Polish registration document, and be insured. The entire process takes place here with us in Poland — regardless of the EU country in which the client resides. Key modifications:

  • Permissible Total Weight (PTW) set to 4250 kg. EU law allows electric vehicles with a PTW up to 4250 kg to be driven by drivers with a category B driving license, provided the driver has at least 2 years of experience.
  • Change of turn signals to orange instead of red, in accordance with EU lighting standards.
  • Protection of sharp edges of the bodywork, in accordance with EU pedestrian protection standards.

The total cost of these modifications is approximately 90,000 PLN (about 20,000 EUR) in addition to the vehicle price — significantly less than the cost of individual homologation directly in Spain.

Driving in Spain with Polish license plates

Thanks to the mutual recognition of vehicle registrations in the European Union, a Cybertruck that has been homologated and registered in Poland can be legally used in Spain — without undergoing a separate, significantly more expensive Spanish procedure.
