The German Ministry of Transport (BMDV) has officially stated that the Tesla Cybertruck, in its current form, does not meet EU passive safety standards and cannot pass type approval in Germany — this also applies to U.S. military vehicles stationed in the country. In other words: there is currently no legal path to register the Cybertruck directly at the German transportation office in its factory, American specification.

Key modifications we perform:

Allowed total mass (DMC) set to 4250 kg. EU law allows electric vehicles with a DMC of up to 4250 kg to be driven by drivers holding a category B driving license, provided that the driver has at least 2 years of experience. This means the Cybertruck can be legally driven without needing to obtain a higher category of driving license.
Changing turn signals to orange. The American specification uses red rear turn signals — in the EU, orange is the required color, so we replace the appropriate lighting elements.
Securing sharp edges of the bodywork. EU passive safety regulations (protection of pedestrians and other unprotected road users) require securing the characteristic sharp edges of the steel body of the Cybertruck.

The total cost of these modifications is approximately 90,000 PLN (around 20,000 EUR) — in addition to the price of the vehicle itself. After the modifications are completed, the vehicle undergoes homologation, receives a Polish registration certificate, and can be insured just like any other car.

Driving in Germany with Polish plates

Poland is a member of the European Union, and vehicle registration in one member country is mutually recognized throughout the EU. This means that a Cybertruck registered and homologated here in Poland can be legally used in Germany — without the need to undergo a separate, German registration procedure, which does not currently exist for this model in its factory version.
